The Edmonton Oilers are facing a crucial period with 5 games scheduled in the next 8 nights as they strive to secure a playoff spot. In a recent intermission interview, Connor McDavid's brother, Cam, shed some light on the hockey star's approach to the current season. Gene Principe, the interviewer, shared a tweet from the conversation:
«I think he took this season a little differently than he has in past seasons. He just works so much harder, you can tell just the change, he changed part of his lifestyle and he's very dedicated to really wanting to win this year. And you can definitely tell.»
According to Cam, McDavid has made significant changes to his lifestyle and put in extra work this season to help the Edmonton Oilers succeed. It appears that McDavid is determined to will the team into a playoff spot this year.
During a recent game, McDavid scored his 61st goal of the season, reaching the milestone of 300 career goals with a wrist-shot over Joonas Korpisalo in a shut-out win against the Los Angeles Kings. McDavid's exceptional season also includes breaking Wayne Gretzky's record of four 10-game points streaks in a season, achieving five streaks himself. Moreover, McDavid has joined the elite company of Mario Lemieux, Peter Stastny, and Bryan Trottier as the fifth player in NHL history to reach 300 goals and 500 assists before playing 600 games.
With McDavid's leadership, the Edmonton Oilers have transformed into legitimate Stanley Cup contenders. After being eliminated in the second round by the Colorado Avalanche last season, McDavid appears to have taken it personally and is giving his all to bring the championship trophy home. In fact, some even compare him to Gretzky, and it's possible that McDavid may even surpass his predecessor.
