Edmonton Oilers Goaltender Involved in Serious Conversation: Does He Deserve The Honour?

As the NHL season draws to a close, fans eagerly anticipate the NHL playoffs and awards season. The Calder Trophy, which recognizes the league's top rookies, has been a particularly contentious topic this year. While many rookies have shown incredible promise, Seattle Kraken's Matty Beniers is the clear favorite to win with his impressive point total of 57 and dynamic play as a two-way forward.
However, there is also a strong argument to be made for Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner. He was unexpectedly thrust into the NHL and signed a contract extension after only a few games due to his strong performance. Skinner has played 49 games, boasting a record of 28-14-5 with a GAA of 2.76, an SV percentage of .914, and one shutout. He played a key role in the Oilers securing their playoff spot this season.
