The Oilers are having a fantastic 2022-2023 NHL season with their players breaking records left and right. Fans have a lot to celebrate with Connor McDavid's impressive numbers, Leon Draisaitl's steady and fantastic numbers, and Ryan Nugent Hopkins' surprise season.
One recent record the Oilers broke is having the most number of players who passed 60 assists in a single season, according to Sportsnet stats. A tweet from the Oilers organization
shows the impressive stats dump with McDavid, Draisaitl, and Nugent Hopkins having 83, 69, and 61 assists, respectively. All three players have over 50 power-play points each and over 20 minutes in penalty minutes.
It's important to note that this is a seasonal stat, and the Oilers need to continue this impressive performance into the playoffs to have a chance of advancing through the Western Conference. This is the best Oilers forward core seen since the Gretzky era, and fans are hopeful that they can lift their 6th Stanley Cup. Only time will tell how the Oilers will fare with some obstacles in front of them, but their strong performance so far gives them a good chance.
