The Edmonton Oilers unfortunately got smacked by the Dallas Stars during the Western Conference rematch - but their rivals also poured salt in the wound.

According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, The Dallas Stars arena operations took a friendly jab at the Oilers after yesterday's 4-1 win by playing a song Oilers fans will recognize.

Some fans recorded the Stars arena playing the Oilers goal song after they took the victory yesterday afternoon. It's a trend the Stars arena has done for a long time, but last playoffs they started a controversy with Oilers fans over it.

The Stars arena staff issued a sincere apology and explained that it is just a trend that the team does, and then backed that action up with significant charitable action for the community in Edmonton

Playing «La Bamba» after a victory has become a great tradition for the Oilers over the past few years. It was Joey Moss's favourite tune during his years in the Oilers locker room, but also ties in to the late little Ben Stelter as well. Ben Stelter was widely recognized for saying «Play La Bamba, Baby» which took off during his long battle with cancer.

Although friendly banter is a part of the game of hockey, «La Bamba» holds deep significance in Oil Country, and many fans took the jab by the Dallas Stars as a massive sign of disrespect.

It's very possible that the Oilers and Stars will meet again in the playoffs this year, and they've begun to develop a heated rivalry.

The Oilers will have another big test next time out on Tuesday, when they take on the Carolina Hurricanes back at home in Edmonton.
