One of the strangest breaking stories has just emerged as an Ottawa based Zamboni driver gets arrested for a DUI after crashing his Zamboni.

According to Austin Sabourin of Bruins Insider, A drunk Zamboni driver was arrested after he crashed into the boards while cleaning the ice.

A surprising case of drunk driving occurred off the roads in Gatineau, near Ottawa, when a Zamboni driver was arrested for being under the influence. The incident took place Monday evening at the Meredith Center arena in Chelsea, where the man crashed the ice resurfacing machine into the boards.

Local authorities released footage showing the driver wearing a hoodie as he operated the Zamboni. An official approached him, but what they said to the impaired driver wasn't clear. Though the machine wasn't moving quickly, it's obvious the driver lost control, hitting the boards with a noticeable thud

Hockey feed reports that the impact took place at low speed, authorities report that damage «to a door and to the boards» was reported, all «in the presence of several witnesses».

His driver's license has been suspended, but he was released while awaiting trial, which will come at a later date. Thankfully, no one was injured during this event.

Drinking in driving is no joke, regardless if it was a Zamboni or a car. But one can't help but to think that this is by far the most Canadian crime that has ever occurred in a long time.

Do you think think the Zamboni driver should be banned from working at the hockey rink? Answer out Oilers Insider poll to have your say!
