Evander Kane has been dealing torn abductors, two hernias and two abdominal tears. These injuries have been accumulative during the 2023-24 season, and his pain was so bad, he wasn't even able to sit on the bench.
As per sportsnet, Edmonton's general manager Stan Bowman on Wednesday confirmed that Kane would not start the season on LTIR despite the forward likely missing all of training camp and the start of the regular season as he recovers from surgery to repair both abductors, two hernias and two abdominal tears.
With that being said, Oilers fans now know when their beloved sniper will be returning to the ice. As per Elliotte Friedman, Evander Kane will not be playing until January or February.
With Kane missing that amount of time, one can only imagine that LTIR is on the table now. Upon Bowman's official announcement of Kane's IR or LTIR status, the Oilers will be looking to trade for a defenceman to help bolster their blue-line as per Bob Stauffer.
