Breaking news in Oil Country as former Oilers goaltender Alex Stalock gets hired as an NHL broadcaster.

Often times in the NHL, the game of hockey just doesn't work out in some cases. But that doesn't mean the road simply ends after hanging up the skates. In the case of former Edmonton Oilers goalie Alex Stalock, he finds himself in a new broadcasting role with the San Jose Sharks, an exciting new step for him.

According to Daily Hive, Alex Stalock, who spent a full season in the Oilers organization from 2021 to 2022 but never played a game with the team, has retired at the age of 37 after appearing in 179 NHL games with the San Jose Sharks, Minnesota Wild, and Chicago Blackhawks.

The Athletic's Eric Stephens revealed on social media that Stalock will immediately step into a broadcaster job with the Sharks audio network and some telecasts.

As per Daily Hive, Stalock will join former Oilers Sportsnet commentator Drew Remenda with this new broadcasting job.

Congratulations to Stalock on this amazing new opportunity in the broadcasting field. Oilers Insider wishes him all the best in this new endeavour.
