Jarome Iginla pays respect to Johnny Gaudreau

As we mourn the passing of NHL superstar Johnny Gaudreau, hockey legends around the world continue their outpouring of support.

Johnny and his brother Matthew were struck by a vehicle near their home in Salem County, New Jersey, on Thursday night. Unfortunately, both Johnny and Matthew passed away as a result of the accident.

Former Calgary Flames captain and NHL legend Jarome Iginla had a profound message for Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau on Tuesday.

«While I never had the privilege to play with Johnny, the times we met or played against each other, I could feel how special he was,» Iginla wrote. «His love of the game and positive energy radiated from him. �Johnny Hockey' made our sport better in many special ways.

«My family and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to have spent time with him and we will always be his fans.»

Gaudreau's passing continues to have a deep impact on the city of Calgary. Thousands of Calgary residents gathered outside the Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Although the passing of the two brothers will break the hearts of hockey fans for years to come, its amazing to see the outpouring of love and support generating by the global hockey community.
