Ex GM Ken Holland is looking to get back into the swing of things after his departure from the Oilers organization this past offseason. Holland did a respectable job managing the team, bringing key acquisitions such as Evander Kane and Corey Perry. In additions to his impressive signings, he was the architect of a team that made it all the way to game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.
According to Dreger, Holland is not ready to call it quits quite yet. On the latest edition of TSN's Insider Trading segment, Darren Dreger reported that Holland is ready to get back to work and is not picky about the type of role he'll have.
Holland certainly has a sparkling resume for any team looking to hire a hockey executive with plenty of success. He won four Stanley Cups as the GM of the Detroit Red Wings between 1997 and 2019 before building a perennial contender in Edmonton and coming just one win shy of his fifth Stanley Cup this past season.
The latest update regarding Holland is that he was recently seen teaming up with Utah HC's GM Bill Armstrong. Although no official announcement of employment has dropped, it appears that Holland is flexible and open to any type of work.
The Oilers recently parted ways with his son, Brad Holland, who was serving as assistant GM for the Oilers. Brad Holland was instrumental in the signing of defenseman Mattias Ekholm and did some fantastic work whilst in the assistant GM position.
One can only assume that the father/son duo are looking to be another package deal in the next golden opportunity that comes their way.
