McDavid was with a St. Louis Blues player when the offer sheet announcement came out

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl found out about the Blues offer sheets while with Robert Thomas...awkward.

The former Edmonton Oilers studs Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway were recently sent packing to St. Louis as both players signed offer sheets, parting ways with the Oilers. Although their services will be missed in Oil Country, acquiring both players came with a hefty price tag.

According to Oilers Nation, the two elite superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were hanging out with St. Louis Blues stud Robert Thomas when the news broke out. Here's what Thomas had to say about the situation:

«It was actually funny. I was sitting with a couple of the Oilers when the news broke. I had lunch after training. I was with McDavid, Draisaitl, Hyman [laughs],» Thomas told Daily Faceoff's Matt Larkin. «It was pretty funny. Yeah, they weren't too happy with it. I had no idea what happened. I was just sitting there eating and I guess it popped up on one of their phones and they heard about it and they weren't too happy about it.

Who knew the Oilers superstars were so close with Robert Thomas? Despite this being a super awkward interaction for all three guys, its safe to say the matchups this season against the St. Louis Blues just got a whole lot more interesting.
