Oilers Nation has recently published an article that has sent shockwaves down the NHL.

It's no secret that Evander Kane will be missing a significant amount of time during the 2024-25 NHL season. Kane recently completed a surgery to repair a sports hernia in addition multiple other torn muscles sustained in last season's campaign. With that in mind, if Kane's timelines extend past the NHL trade deadline, Liam Horrobin of Oilers Nation suggests Taylor Hall being a viable deadline trade option for the team.

As per Horrobin from Oilers Nation, The first plan is for Podkolzin to make the spot his own. The second plan is to acquire someone at the deadline if Kane is out for the remainder of the regular season. The options are good, with Taylor Hall, Andrew Mangiapane, and Andrei Kuzmenko all possibly available.

Waiting for the deadline feels like the most likely possibility because of the talent available. Acquiring Kuzmenko from a divisional rival would be difficult and Mangiapane's availability is going to depend on how Washington is performing at the time. A reunion with Hall is the most likely, with the Blackhawks not competing for the playoffs again. Waiting for the deadline feels like the most likely possibility because of the talent available.

According to Puckpedia, Taylor Hall is currently signed to a 4-year contract with a cap hit of $6,000,000 per season. His contract expires at the end of the 2024-25 season, when Hall is 33 years old.

If the Oilers do indeed get some increased cap space with Kane on LTIR, Oilers Nation has linked Taylor Hall back to Oil Country. Now, I know that this won't sit well with many Oilers enthusiast, but let's get real - Taylor Hall is a former 2017-2018 Hart trophy winner with an extremely versatile skill set.

GM Stan Bowman also has extremely strong ties with the Blackhawks organization. With Kyle Davidson being their current GM, Stan Bowman could easily strike a value deal in order to bring Hall back to Edmonton as Stanley Cup rental option. Oilers Nation seems to think that bringing Taylor Hall back to Edmonton makes the most sense for a strategic deadline move.
