Nine years ago today, on October 13, 2015, Connor McDavid scored his first career NHL goal and was marking the beginning of what is so far an exceptional career.

The goal came in a game against the Dallas Stars and it was a special moment for the then 18-year-old rookie, he was positioned in front of the net and Connor McDavid deflected a shot past goaltender Kari Lehtonen to tie the game 2-2.

His wingers at the time were Nail Yakupov and Benoit Pouliot, showing just how much the Oilers' lineup has evolved since then.

Connor McDavid has since become the captain of the Edmonton Oilers and now boasts 335 career goals and 983 points. Though he's scored countless breathtaking goals, that first goal is always one to remember for any player and it was the first from many others.

At only 27 years old, Connor McDavid has already putted himself as one of the greatest players in hockey of all-time and with the 2024-25 season just beginning, he's well on his way to adding many more memorable moments to his career highlight reel.

If this season mirrors his previous ones, he could very well exceed 40 goals and add to his legacy as a scoring machine. As McDavid continues to elevate his game, his journey remains fascinating. The fans in Edmonton and hockey are eager to see what the next chapter holds for him.
