It's no secret by now that the Edmonton Oilers suffered a gut wrenching defeat at the hands of the Vegas Golden Knights last night.
With just 49 seconds left on the clock, Golden Knights defenceman slipped behind the Oilers defence unscathed, notching the eventual game winner in a 4-2 final.
With that being said, the Oilers defence was abysmal, but you would be remise not to acknowledge Stuart Skinner's disappointing performance. Yes, he made some decent saves throughout the course of the game, but when it comes down to it, he's simply not clutch.
Through 9 regular season games so far, Skinner has posted a 3.28 GAA and a. 0.885 SP - simply nowhere good enough for international level hockey.
According to hockey insider Kevin Weekes, Washington Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson has emerged as the new front runner for Team Canada.
The Washington Capitals are currently one of the hottest teams in the NHL, sitting at an impressive 9-3-1 record.
Thompson is currently out-dueling Stuart Skinner is virtually every statistical category right now, and the Capitals seem to be playing a confident game in front of him.
Weekes also reports that Logan Thompson will be a pending UFA at the end of the season, and the Oilers could potentially be in need of a goaltender next year if Skinner doesn't turn his game around.
