Well, Halloween party season is in full effect, and it's that time of the year NHL fans get to check out some of the best and worst costumes in the league.

In the case of New York Rangers star Vincent Trocheckhe may have taken the cake for worst costume of the year.

As per Blade of Steel, Trocheck and his wife Hilary came dressed as Erik and Lyle Menendez, who have been in the news as of late after a Netflix documentary series about their heinous crimes aired, becoming one of the biggest stories in the world. As reporter Andrew Berkshire points out, to have interest in the story is one thing, but to take the time to plan these costumes and ultimately post them to social media is a total lack of awareness from the veteran star, who should know better after years of PR training in the NHL.

The post has been swiftly removed from Instagram and it is yet to be determined if Trocheck will receive any kind of disciplinary action. Although I'm sure the costume was meant in good fun, unfortunately we now live in a society where people are easily triggered and could be «cancelled».

Halloween costume parties can be some of the most enjoyable times in a person's life, whether that person be an every day employee or a professional athlete, but regardless of the circumstances, there's always going to be that one person that takes it too far. Blade of Steel
