Well Oilers fans, were right back to square 1. After coming up just two goals shy of hockey's ultimate prize, the Oilers will be looking to hit the repeat button (without the 3-9-1 start).
According to the Canadian Press, Gretzky, who raised hockey's holy grail four times with the Oilers in the 1980s, believes his old team will be right back in the conversation.
It seems as if the great one, Wayne Gretzky, has challenged Connor McDavid in his recent comments. McDavid is arguably one of the most decorated modern day hockey players in the world, but there's one crucial component missing on his impressive resume, a Stanley Cup.
Regardless, McDavid knows what he needs to do. Although Wayne Gretzky is 100% in his comments, it needs not to be said. If anyone knows what's missing in McDavid's career, it's the Oilers captain himself.
As the Oilers gear up for their home opener on Oct. 9th against the Winnipeg Jets, Connor McDavis had this to say to the media:
McDavid is clearly trying to block out the outside noise by focusing at the task at hand. According to McDavid, there's no sense dwelling on the past. The captain knows exactly what needs to be done, and I'm fully confident he'll get the Oilers to where they need to be come springtime.
