Erik Karlsson Completely Loses It After A Referee Missed a Call and Throws his Helmet on the Ice
The San Jose Sharks were already having a terrible night, being down 6-0 halfway through the third period. Their only wish was to end the game and leave Denver. During the game, Erik Karlsson attempted to keep the puck in the Colorado end by making a deke at the blueline. Unfortunately, Alex Newhook carelessly hit Karlsson in the mouth with his stick, causing him to bleed. Karlsson received treatment from the trainer and went back to the bench.
The non-penalty call against Newhook upset the Sharks team even more. In response, Karlsson removed his helmet from the bench and threw it on the ice out of disgust. The referees gave him a ten-minute misconduct for his actions. After the game, Karlsson commented that the referees missed an obvious call.
It was definitely a forgettable night for the Sharks, and Karlsson's frustration was further fueled by the non-call. Although his actions were understandable, they would not have changed the game's outcome. Despite San Jose's disappointing season, Karlsson has been performing well individually, and hopefully, he will recover from his injury.
