With the World Hockey Championships scheduled to start on May 12th in Tampere, Finland, hockey fans are eagerly anticipating the opening match between Finland and the USA. However, it has been revealed in a tweet by Jeff Marek that Connor Bedard, one of the top prospects for the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, will not be participating in the tournament. While the reason for his absence remains undisclosed, it's possible that he wants to avoid injury risks during his draft-eligible year.
Bedard's team, the Regina Pats, were eliminated from the playoffs by the Saskatoon Blades in a seven-game series, cutting his postseason run short. Despite this, he managed to impress with his performance, scoring 20 points against the Blades.
It's a disappointment that Bedard won't be showcasing his skills in the World Hockey Championships, especially after his impressive 23-point performance at the 2023 World Juniors. However, fans of the sport can still look forward to his future performances, particularly in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft. The original tweet by Jeff Marek containing this news can be found here:
