The NFL draft is often unpredictable, but the Detroit Lions made a funny coincidence last night when they selected linebacker Jack Campbell, who happens to share his name with the backup goaltender of the Edmonton Oilers. While it's unlikely that the NHL player is also a football star, the coincidence is enough to make anyone do a double-take.
Although it's not uncommon for people to share the same name, it's particularly amusing when it happens in the sports world. Perhaps Campbell the goalie was eagerly watching the draft to see if his name would be called, but it's unlikely that he'll ever wear a football uniform.
Nonetheless, the humor of this coincidence is not lost, and maybe the two Jack Campbells will have a good laugh about it if they ever cross paths.
