After making it to the Western Conference finals last year, the Edmonton Oilers are back in the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs, beginning their run against the Los Angeles Kings with home ice advantage. Head coach JAY Woodcroft discussed the playoffs with the media on Saturday after practice, noting the excitement among his players. Woodcroft emphasized the importance of controlling emotions and using the regular season as a dress rehearsal to prepare for the playoffs.
While the Oilers boast a dynamic offense led by Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Evander Kane, and Zach Hyman, other teams are now more familiar with their strengths, making the playoffs tougher this year. However, the Oilers have shored up their goaltending, which was a weakness last year, making this team potentially the most dangerous Oilers playoff team since their last Stanley Cup win.
