Yesterday, Edmonton Oilers fans made the organization look bad by engaging in a series of unruly and dangerous behaviors. Ice District, in downtown Edmonton, hosted a live viewing party for the Oilers game, and it sold out 30,000 tickets in the arena and outdoors.
However, some Oilers fans decided to shove down a barrier holding fans back, which resulted in a security guard being shoved to the ground, police and Oilers fans fighting each other. Things then took a turn for the worse as fans ran past security to get into the watch party for free.
This kind of behavior is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the Oilers organization. The team has worked hard to build a positive reputation and engage with fans, but incidents like this can undermine those efforts. The Oilers need to take action to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future, both to protect the safety of fans and to preserve the team's reputation.
