The Edmonton Oilers have announced a roster move, sending defenseman Jason Demers back to the AHL for the Bakersfield Condors and their upcoming playoff run. Demers had been called up by the Oilers and played in just one game, which also happened to be his 700th NHL game against his former team, the San Jose Sharks.
Demers filled in for Oilers defenseman Cody Ceci, who was away from the team due to his wife giving birth. With Ceci expected to return soon, Demers has been sent back to the AHL for the Condors' playoff push.
The Oilers will rely on their remaining defensive depth to finish out the regular season and potentially make a deep playoff run. The team hopes that Demers can provide valuable experience and leadership to the Condors as they strive for postseason success.
