Take a listen to Michaels and Stauffer on the Edmonton radio broadcast, calling the final minute before the Oilers punched their ticket to the Cup Final.
As the local broadcaster for Oilers games throughout the season, it's unfortunate for fans that Jack Michaels isn't on national television for the biggest games.
The final minute of the game was absolute bedlam inside the Rogers Place as the Oilers defended the Stars pushing to erase a one goal lead. With every fan on their feet, the Oilers played the best defensive effort of the season to get in passing lanes, block shots, and do whatever was needed to seal the win on home ice. As the final horn went and La Bamba began to play, the city of Edmonton erupted.
After the game, Oilers fans stayed around the Ice District to celebrate the victory, chanting We Want the Cup' in the streets.
Now against the Florida Panthers, the Oilers will have an opportunity to end their 34 year Cup drought and finally win it all in the Connor McDavid era. This year's Oilers truly feel different, as their superstars have matured into playoff performers and their depth is playing as a cohesive unit under coach Kris Knoblauch.
After losing the net in the second round, Stuart Skinner has bounced back with incredible results in clutch situations. The Oilers have every element to be able to win the Stanley Cup this year, and now they just need to elevate and continue this play against the Panthers.
