With a 1-0 win in Nashville, the Canucks beat out the Predators despite missing their elite starter Thatcher Demko. Their team was backstopped by great goaltending from rookie Arturs Silovs, and the team came together to play more defence to help the winning effort.
The Canucks were able to pull out the win despite Elias Pettersson not playing up to expectations. What's more assuring is that Thatcher Demkos is expected to return to the lineup later in the second round. To give more confidence to the Canucks, they held an undefeated 4-0 record over the Oilers this year.
However, much of the Canucks success against the Oilers came early in the year with Jay Woodcroft still coaching the team. The Oilers have come a long way since then with Kris Knoblauch, and the Canucks haven't seen the best of the Oilers at all this year. Now after a dominant win over the Kings, the Oilers are looking the best they have all year, which should frighten the Canucks.
