Berezin's journey in the NHL began after being selected in the 10th round, 256th overall, by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1994. His transition from Russian leagues to the NHL was marked by his debut with the Leafs in 1996, showcasing his skills on North American ice. Berezin's career spanned various teams, including stints with the Montreal Canadiens, Arizona Coyotes, Chicago Blackhawks, and Washington Capitals.

His return to Russia for a final season before retiring in 2004 marked the end of a distinguished career. Throughout his 502-game tenure, Berezin amassed an impressive 160 goals and 286 points, leaving a legacy of determination and skill.
