Since joining the Edmonton Oilers three seasons ago, Zach Hyman has experienced a significant uplift in both his career and personal life.

During an engaging interview with Mike Zeisberger from NHL.com, Hyman expressed his contentment and the positive impact of his decision to sign with the Oilers. Originally from Toronto, his transition has marked a new chapter in his professional hockey career.

Hyman's shift to the Oilers was sealed with a substantial seven-year contract valued at $38.5 million, signaling a new beginning after a period of stagnation with the Toronto Maple Leafs. "Coming here was the best decision of my life," Hyman revealed, emphasizing the emotional significance of his move NHL.com.

While with the Maple Leafs, Hyman felt his growth had plateaued. The decision to change teams was strategic, spurred by a sense that Maple Leafs' general manager Kyle Dubas had different plans, prompting Hyman to seek new opportunities.

His move was not motivated by financial gains. "It wasn't about money," Hyman stated, highlighting his deep ties to Toronto and his initial desire to remain a lifelong Maple Leaf. However, the emerging interest from Edmonton offered him a new avenue to explore.

«I'd have loved to be a Maple Leaf for life. I was from there, our families were from there. But when that door closed and Edmonton had shown interest all along, it was the place I wanted to come,»
Hyman explained.

The move proved fruitful as Hyman delivered an outstanding performance this season, reaching a career-high with 54 goals, complemented by 23 assists, totaling 77 points. His playoff statistics are equally impressive, leading the league with fourteen goals and accumulating 18 points in 18 games.

Apart from his on-ice success, Hyman has also made a name for himself off the ice. He is the author of several children's books recognized across North America, illustrating his diverse talents and interests.

Moreover, Hyman's engagement in cultural exchanges, highlighted by his interactions with NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal in the "Shaq Hyman" segments, where they exchanged team jerseys, reflects his influence extending beyond hockey.

As the Oilers gear up for game one against Florida on Saturday, June 8th at 6:30 PM Eastern, the spotlight remains on Hyman, not only for his pivotal role on the team but also for his impactful presence within the community.
