After a hard battle in a good round one against the LA Kings, the Oilers were able to close out the series in 6 while on the road in Los Angeles. The team showed some resilience after having a few Leeds lost during a few of their first games but battled and prevailed.
With Round 2 on the horizon and their next opponent being the Vegas Golden Knights, moneypuck.com released its new projections of how the playoffs could go and who has the best chance of winning the Stanley Cup period.
The wheel shows the Oilers have a much better chance of moving to at least the third round at 66% while the Golden Knights show 34.%, as well as the Oilers being favourites for the Stanley Cup, well above the Maple Leafs.
I feel this series is going to go the distance and go seven games as I think the Golden Knights will be a tough opponent for the Oilers because they have a balanced attack, however, the Oilers have still that nuclear option of offence in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
Both teams have nearly identical home records during the regular season and it will come down to which goaltender will outduel the other.
