Edmonton Oilers defenseman Cody Ceci has left the team temporarily for a wonderful reason - the birth of his child with wife Jamie Ceci. Ceci has been an essential part of the Oilers defense this season, and his presence will undoubtedly be missed. However, the team has called up defenseman Jason Demers to take Ceci's spot in the lineup for their upcoming game against the San Jose Sharks on April 8th.
Demers, who has played 699 NHL games, will have an exciting opportunity to play his 700th game against his former team, the Sharks. This could be a fitting way to end his career, and he will undoubtedly bring his best to the ice in this momentous game.
Meanwhile, forward Ryan McLeod has been placed on long-term injured reserve, but there is hope for his return to the lineup soon. The Oilers will have to wait and see how his recovery progresses before making any decisions about his return.
