Breaking news in Oil Country as the Bakersfield are making moves - signing former 1st round draft pick Brayden Tracey to a PTO.

The Bakersfield Condors have been lacking forward depth, and find themselves in desperate need of support in that area. The Alberta native will now be looking to make a name for himself to cement himself in a full-time AHL role.

Tracey is now 23 years old, and was drafted 29th overall by the Anaheim Ducks back in 2019. He's spent his entire professional career in the Ducks system, playing for the AHL's Sam Diego Gulls, and earning 1 NHL game in the 2022-23 season. He stands at 6'1, and is a left shot winger.

Liam McCormick from Oilers daily reports that despite his draft pedigree in a draft that was only 5 years ago, there's not much to indicate that Tracey could become an NHL player. In 55 AHL games last season, Tracey only scored 9 goals and 25 points, then wasn't renewed by the Ducks organization.

It seems like the Oilers organization seem to be making some small splashes the past 24 hours. This move was also made in accordance with Drake Caggiula's reassignment to the Oilers affiliate in Bakersfield.

Despite Tracey's poor showing last year, he's still a former 1st round draft pick with tons of potential. Perhaps the Condors have a diamond in the rough here - Oilers Insider wishes him the best of luck in Bakersfield.
