Bob Stauffer, a prominent Oilers insider on 630 CHED has revealed that he remains extremely optimistic about Ty Emberson.

In this X post by Stauffer (formally known as twitter) Stauffer highlights some of the reasons for his optimism. Emberson had a highly successful campaign under head coach Kris Knoblauch in 2022-23. In addition, he managed to be a solid blue-liner for an abysmal San Jose Sharks team last season.

Corey Pronman at The Athletic wrote that Emberson is «a decent sized defender who skates reasonably well. He's able to close gaps on guys and make stops due to his feet, physicality and intelligence. He can skate pucks out of trouble and has the vision to make a few nice plays when he gets space. The issue with him is a lack of creativity and offensive skill. His game can be very basic at times, and he won't break a shift open.»

Scott Wheeler at The Athletic opined that «Ty Emberson is freakishly athletic and was never given a real shot to play offensive minutes with the national program but also went a bit high (in the draft).»

Bob Stauffer also came out with another bold prediction regarding his X post. He believes that Emberson will be a "lock" to be a starter on the Oilers blue-line and will also have an opportunity on the power-play.

Even if Emberson emerges as the second unit power-play quarterback, an opportunity on the Oilers formidable power-play will present unique chances to rack up points during the 2024-2025 campaign.
