Daryl Katz is being praised by Leon Draisaitl
Kurt Leavins, a prominent sports writer for the Edmonton Journal breaks down the "Katz Advantage" and how it's worked in Edmonton's favour.
It's no secret by now that Edmonton Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl has recently signed an 8 year contract extension worth $14 MM AAV. He has stated that he wants to remain an "Oiler for life" and much of that is being attributed to Katz's work behind the scenes.
According to Leavins, the Leon Draisaitl contract is among the growing evidence of how Mr. Katz's influence has helped and is continuing to build the Edmonton Oilers into a perennial Stanley Cup contender. Good ownership and managers allow employees to flourish and grow. But we also know the #1 reason most people leave their current jobs: Their boss.
Draisaitl praises Katz in interview:
«I'm aware of my responsibility. I'm aware of the commitment that (sic) he and the entire Oilers organization has given me. It's my time to give back in a way, right»?
Later, on Bob Stauffer's show, Draisaitl added «we are so fortunate with Daryl and the entire Katz family and how we're treated», and «the things that we are able to get as an organization simply because how much Daryl and his family cares about us is in my opinion, uh, the best in the league. That plays a big part in this.» said Leon
Although Katz has been the subject of some controversy over the years, there's no denying the love and commitment he has for this hockey club. The players are obviously happy with their world class treatment from the Oilers, and that ultimately all stems from ownership.
