Its no secret by now that the Edmonton Oilers took a massive hit the offseason with the departure of Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg.

With that being said, yesterday marked the first time Oilers enthusiast got to see their former young studs play for the St-Louis Blues. The game marked the first inaugural matchup in Utah HC's history.

As much as their departure impacted the Oilers, both Broberg and Holloway had impactful performances in their first preseason games for the St. Louis Blues.

According to The Hockey News, Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg made their St. Louis Blues debuts on Sunday night in a 5-3 loss to Utah in Des Moines, Iowa. Despite the loss, Holloway endeared himself to Blues fans with a first period goal that extended the team's lead to 2-0.

Since the Oilers chose not to match the Blues' offer sheets to Holloway and Broberg, the two youngsters have been a big part of St. Louis' future plans. Both players are expected to make the team in depth roles, with a chance to play their way higher in the lineup.

Last night, Holloway played on the second line with Radek Faksa and Dylan Peterson but took a pass from Blues captain Brayden Schenn to score his first goal for the team. He faces stiff competition in training camp at left wing, with Pavel Buchnevich, Brandon Saad, and Jake Neighbours already penciled into the lineup.

Broberg tallied 2 shots but no points, but it was nice to see Dylan Holloway find the back. Both Broberg and Holloway are poised to play big minutes for the Blues this season. Holloway is definitely looking to make a statement following his public discontent regarding GM Stan Bowman's handling of the offer sheet.
