Breaking news out of Oil Country as the Oilers announce a new jersey partnership with Play Alberta.

This breaking announcement has irked Oiler fans across the NHL. The Oilers jerseys will now showcase a new front badge on the top right corner featuring Play Alberta's logo. As it if things were already bad enough slapping a "Skip the Dishes" logo on their helmet, Play Alberta is now the newest face of the organization.

Play Alberta is the only regulated online gambling site in the province, and is now the official jersey partner of the Edmonton Oilers.

Jersey partnerships have become a huge trend in the NHL, and the Edmonton Oilers are one of the last teams to put a logo on their uniforms. Oilers fans are unimpressed as their clean looking jersey is now tarnished with a big "Play Alberta" star right next to the Oilers logo.

As per Liam McCormick form Oilers Daily, other major teams, like the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens have already released jersey sponsorships in the past. The Oilers and ownership are clearly looking to capitalize on the major hype around the team at the moment. If they can find a way to re-sign Connor McDavid and Evan Bouchard after locking up Leon Draisaitl, fans won't be too stressed about the jersey ad.
