Edmonton Oilers social media account gets over one million followers
Edmonton Oilers X account (formally known as twitter) has reached a huge milestone today, breaching over 1 million followers.
It's a great day to be the social media manager for the Edmonton Oilers. Since the re-signing of Leon Draisaitl, Oilers instagram and X accounts have been soaring high. Today, it was announced that the Oilers X broke broke the 1 million follower mark, further emphasizing the international interest of this hockey club.
Not every single team has reached that. They join the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Vancouver Canucks, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Stars and Los Angeles Kings in reaching that benchmark.
The significance of a prairie city like Edmonton generating this level of social media interest is nothing to scoff at. There is much to be optimistic about in Oil Country heading into the highly anticipated regular season, especially when discussing Connor McDavid's contract extension in 2025-25.
This milestone also shows the world that the world of Oilers fans is growing. There are more and more people watching the team. They have come a long way from the early days of money troubles. It's tough to have a successful franchise if money is always an issue.
I think it's pretty safe to say that the Edmonton Oilers are a trending team and will serve as a huge money maker for the NHL for years to come.
