Former Edmonton Oiler Adam Erne joins the New York Rangers on a PTO
Breaking news out of New York as forward Adam Erne joins the New York Rangers on a PTO.
According to TSN, Veteran forward Adam Erne will join the New York Rangers for training camp on a professional tryout agreement.
The 29-year-old winger posted one goal and one assist in 24 games with the Edmonton Oilers last season. He added six goals and 12 points in 36 games with the AHL's Bakersfield Condors.
Erne, a second-round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2013, is a veteran of 379 career games. He has 41 goals and 91 points over those games with the Lightning, Detroit Red Wings and Oilers. Adam Erne has struggled to gain traction in the NHL so far. He was a member of the Edmonton Oilers last season, but only slotted in for 24 games. During his campaign with the Oilers last year, Erne only notched 1 goal and 1 assist for a grand total of 2 points.
While he demonstrated glimpses of offensive capability, Erne will be looking to revamp his NHL career with the New York Rangers.
Oilers Insider wishes Erne all the best on his PTO in the Empire state.
