Former Edmonton Oilers defenceman Adam Larsson re-signs with the Seattle Kraken

Breaking news out of Seattle as the Kraken announce they have signed Adam Larsson to a contract extension.

According to Sportsnet, According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the 31-year-old defenceman is going to sign a four-extension with the Kraken, which will carry an average annual value of $5.25 million.

Larsson was entering the final year of a four-year pact he signed with Seattle ahead of its inaugural season in 2021 after it selected him in the expansion draft.

In 2023-24, Larsson scored four goals and dished out 14 assists while recording a plus-six rating in just under 23 minutes of ice time per game for a Kraken team that finished sixth in the Pacific Division with a 34-35-13 record.

Oilers enthusiasts will remember Larsson very well as he played with club from 2016-2021. He was a formidable D-man for the Oilers and played an instrumental role for the team.

The Oilers unfortunately lost Larsson in the 2021 expansion draft to the Kraken, but has proven to be a capable defender for Seattle during his tenure there. Larsson will be looking to help the Kraken get back into the playoffs for just the second time in team history.
