According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Fan favourite former NHL coach Bruce Boudreau is now working as an analyst with TSN, and Brucey recently had a warning for the Oilers and some advice for Coach Knoblauch.
Boudreau spoke about the Oilers similar slow start to last season, where they cratered to a record of 2-9-1 before firing Jay Woodcroft. The Oilers turned it around with a 16 game win streak, and Boudreau wanted to never really expect something like that again - the Oilers need points now to keep pace in the standings.
The Oilers took another disappointing loss to the Carolina Hurricanes last night, losing by a score of 3-2 with just seconds left in overtime. With that being said, the Oilers fall to 2-4-1 record, and the teams overall performance has been underwhelming to say the least.
Although the loss was frustrating, there are some moral victories that occurred. The Oilers managed to score a power play goal, finally snapping the cold streak which has been haunting them.
Despite scoring on the PP, Bruce Boudreau makes some incredibly valid points. To think that the Oilers will go on another legendary 16 game winning streak is completely unrealistic, and the team must find ways to win these close games on a consistent basis.
