Edmonton Oilers Tom Gazzola revealed on X (formally known as Twitter) that captain Connor McDavid hit the ice for a skate yesterday, suggesting his recovery is right on track.

As per Ryan Hall of Oilers Daily, it appears the Oilers have dodged a bullet and that their superstar will not be out longer than one month. Seeing him take the ice already and testing out his ankle maybe a sign that he could come back sooner as he is able to put weight on it tried to do some basic skating exercises.

Many hockey enthusiasts are surprised to see McDavid on the ice so soon in his recovery. His early return to skating could suggest his ankle injury may not be as serious as some hockey analysts have suggested. One thing is a certainty, Connor McDavid is a freak of nature who has the ability to heal quicker than most.

After a slow start to his season, McDavid had turned his season around as he had played 10 games, scored three goals with 7 assists for 10 points and is a + 4. It remains to be seen on how he will prevail in his season regarding his stats as he has been a machine when it comes to points earned.

Although Oilers fans are eager to have their captain back in the lineup, his absence has presented new opportunities for depth players to step up, including the added chance for the Oilers to develop some new chemistry.
