Kris Knoblauch calls player meeting after meltdown against the Vegas Golden Knights
The Edmonton Oilers are coming off a gut wrenching 4-2 loss against the Vegas Golden Knights, missing a huge opportunity to steal a point with just minutes left in the game.
With that being said, it's now back to the drawing board for Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch.
During practice earlier today, Kris Knoblauch was seen halting routine drills, gathering the team's penalty kill units for a rather long talking-to.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, The Oilers powerplay will likely figure it out with the elite talent, but their slow start isn't helping the team's results right now. The penalty kill is operating at a horrific 60%, which is last in the NHL and 5% worse than any other team.
Coach Knoblauch has explained the penalty kill failures this year as a matter of execution - the players simply aren't doing their jobs. A meeting from the coaches like this is clearly a direct way to hammer them with the game plan.
Most Oilers enthusiasts would love to be a fly on the wall regarding the their center ice meeting held at practice. But clearly, head coach Knoblauch is trying get his point across - the Oilers have to tighten up
The Oilers have have a tough task ahead of them over the weekend as they take a on a red hot Vancouver Canucks team.
Currently sitting at 6-7-1 record, the team must band together to avoid costly penalties late in the game as it proved detrimental against the Golden Knights.
After a meltdown loss last game, I fully expect the Oilers to start the game firing on all cylinders, but this time, for a full 60 minute effort.
