During a game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid was tripped into the boards, causing him to sustain a lower body injury (ankle). Moments ago, Sportsnet's Gene Principe has just revealed on X (formally known as twitter) that Connor McDavid could only be missing 2 weeks, instead of 3.
Although the team officially announced that the prognosis was 2-3 weeks, Oilers fans can now breathe a huge sigh of relief knowing that they might get their captain back within the shortest timeframe.
As per Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, This is obviously fantastic news for the Edmonton Oilers. The superstar even put in additional work on his own to recover as fast as possible, as McDavid flew in his own personal team of trainers to assist in his recovery. Getting him back on the ice as fast as possible is the priority.
Having Connor McDavid back on the ice in 2 weeks has major implications to the team's overall success moving forward. I think it's fairly safe to say that McDavid is a freak of nature with superhuman healing abilities.
Although the Edmonton Oilers have been tested just once without the McDavid, the Oilers faired extremely well, pommeling the Nashville Predators by a score of 5-1. The Edmonton Oilers play the Calgary Flames tomorrow for the BOA (Battle of Alberta) in which should be a thrilling matchup. Hopefully the Oilers continue to get the job done without Connor McDavid in the lineup.
