Flames Talk podcast has caused quite the buzz in Edmonton as former Calgary Flames captain Mark Giordano has been linked to the Oilers.

Mark Giordano is currently the oldest players in the NHL. At 40 years of age, he's currently a UFA with the Toronto Maple Leafs and remains un-signed. During the latest segment of the Flames Talk Podcast, his agent Ritch Winter reported that he has spoken to three interested Canadian teams, the Leafs, the Flames, and the Oilers.

In addition to that, Ritch Winter made an appearance on the Jason Gregor Show Podcast in Edmonton. Winter discussed Giordano's intent to play for a few more seasons. Even at the age of 40, Winter claims that Giordano is in the best shape of his life and could potentially be a "bargain" for an NHL club.

"He'll not have a Norris season cause wherever he plays, he's not playing for his power-play like he did then. But he'll be a good top 4, minimum top 6 who out performs everybody. But I need to help over come the biases, cause what's his problem? He's 40...so what?"

The Oilers have one contract space available along with $945,000 in cap space. To land Giordano he would need to take a league minimum deal to which he would become the 8th defenseman. Recently, the oilers have pushed out Cody Ceci through trade to open cap space while acquiring Ty Emberson to round out the return from the San Jose Sharks.
