The Edmonton Oilers took on the Seattle Kraken last night for one the their last preseason games - losing by a score of 6-2.

Although I don't like to say this, but the Oilers ultimately lost the game due to poor goaltending. Although Olivier Rodrigue looked rather shaky, there were some really good moments for the Oilers throughout the game - especially on the second line.

According to Finn Marceau of the Hockey News, That implosion put a damper on what was a strong performance from the Oilers' skaters, particularly the second line of Leon Draisaitl, Jeff Skinner, and Viktor Arvidsson. The new trio was an offensive force, flashing impressive puck movement at five-on-five, including creating the Oilers' second goal of the game.

Of course, Draisaitl knows all about the powerplay. The Oilers went 1-for-5 on the man advantage, with Draisaitl capitalizing on Seattle's chaos for one of his signature one-timers at the end of a 5-on-3.

If Draisaitl, Arvidsson, and Skinner can sling the puck around like that with regularity, it's going to be a long season for Western Conference defencemen. And if Dermott starts chipping in on offence like that, watch out.

During last Monday's pre season affair between the Oilers and the Vancouver Canucks, the team got their first glimpse of the newly formed second line. They didn't generate much and failed to muster up chemistry. Last night's game was a totally different story.

The boys looked electric, and you could tell the effort was there from Viktor Arvidsson. Although Jeff Skinner is waiting for his breakout moment, it's just a matter of time before his name becomes a regular topic of discussion when analyzing the second line.
