The Edmonton Oilers just finished up the Young Stars Classic Tournament in Pentiction BC.

First of all, I just want to say that the Young Stars Tournament has everything to do with development and exposure, not winning. Although stacking up some wins would have been nice, the Oilers young guns finished the tournament with 0 wins and 3 losses following a 3-0 defeat to the Jets prospects.

Oilers rookies shut out 2-0 by the Jets, finish tournament at 0-3-0

Accroding to bagged milk from Oilers Nation, on the bright side, we did get a good look at some of the team's promising prospects. Matthew Savoie showed flashes of the skill that made him a top draft pick for the Sabres before landing here with us, and Max Wanner turned some heads on the blue line, looking like a guy who's ready to take the next step in his development.

If nothing else, knowing that those two prospects were able to separate themselves when no one else could was the exact result we needed from them. It's not all doom and gloom even though it may feel that way to some. Sure, a 2-0 loss to the Canucks, a 3-1 defeat to the Flames, and another 2-0 shutout at the hands of the Jets earlier this afternoon, but Oilers fans got to see their favourite prospects in action, and the boys looked like they had fun.
