It's game night in Oil Country - The Oilers are gearing up for a preseason re-match against the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena tonight.

The last showdown between these two teams was an eventful one to say the least. The Oilers came through with an epic 5-4 comeback performance, and they will be looking to keep the momentum going. Oilers insider Jason Gregor recently revealed the projected Kraken lineup on X (formally known as twitter).

Kraken Starting roster:

McCann - Beniers - Eberle
Schwartz - Stephenson - Burakovsky
Tolvanen - Wright - Bjorkstrand
Tanev - Gourde - Winterton
Dunn - Larsson
Oleksiak - Montour
Evans - Borgen
Grubauer
Daccord

The game should be a thrilling showdown as both teams will be dressing their projected starting lineups - a great test for the Oilers early on.

According to Gregor, The Kraken have many solid NHL veterans, but no elite offensive players. Jared McCann led them with 29 goals and 62 points last year. It is extremely difficult to mimic their 2023 season when every forward had 13 goals. They need Matt Beniers to bounce-back from his dreadful 37-point season last year. I like that addition of Brandon Montour, but not having a game breaker will make it difficult for them to make the playoffs.

The Drew Doughty injury could keep them close to Los Angeles, but the Kraken will need all four lines to produce for them to win, and that is a big ask.

Game starts at 8:00 PM MT. You can watch the game on Oilers+ or listen live on 630 CHED.
