Play la bamba baby - the Edmonton Oilers beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 in overtime.

Well Oilers fans, it wasn't pretty, but we'll take it. What started as a nightmare showing for the Edmonton Oilers has ended on a really positive note.

Initially, the Edmonton Oilers went down 2-0 in the first period, suffering two short handed goals at the hands of young Russian phenom Matvei Michkov.

I admit at first, it was really frustrating to see the effort of the Oilers right out of the gate. There was so much emphasis on the importance of this game - the Oilers were in desperate need of a win as falling 0-4 would have been devastating.

After going down to two zip early on, the Edmonton Oilers got some much needed depth scoring from Adam Henrique (who seemed to get the juice flowing for the team). Then, fan favourite Connor Brown notched his first goal of the year to square it up at two a piece.

As per the NHL, Leon Draisaitl scored 56 seconds into overtime to give the Edmonton Oilers their first win of the season, 4-3 against the Philadelphia Flyers at Rogers Place on Tuesday.

During a postgame interview Draisaitl commented:

«We're scratching for some points here early on. Any point we can get is big & it was nice to come back & win the game."

Connor Brown also chimed in on this crucial Oilers victory:

"I think this team's kind of been dying for our line to build us some momentum, so it was nice to be able to contribute & get a win out of that."
