The Edmonton Oilers find themselves evened up at a .500 record, but depth scoring continues to be a problem for the team.

During a recent episode of OilersNation Everyday, host Tyler Yaremchuk explains how he feels that Oilers forward Mattias Janmark was a big overpay by the Oilers.

He discussed several points which include an abysmal start to the season, ineffective on the penalty kill to which he has been on the ice for five of the 10 power play goals scored against, and only had four goals through 78 regular season games which includes last year.

The 31-year-old center was re signed to a three-year contract extension that was worth $4.35 million and holds a cap hit of 1.45 million per season.

In Janmark's defence, he was an absolute stud during the Oilers cup run during the 2024 post season. Although his contract may seem fair to some, I do agree with Tyler Yaremchuk. Mattias Janmark is a key piece of the Oilers depth, and he needs to start showing the wheels he had for the team during the playoffs. He's currently on the fourth line with Corey Perry and Derek Ryan, averaging about 11 minutes per games

Despite his age, current linemate Corey Perry had has been doing everything he can to get his team going. It's time for Janmark to start pulling his weight, or the Oilers might be find themselves regretting signing Janmark to his current pay rate.
