Just seconds into the Columbus Blue Jackets game, Connor McDavid collided heavily into the boards, resulting in a lower body injury. With that being said, the Oilers got spanked by a score of 6-1 by a below average team. Now, new reports indicate that Stan Bowman is exploring options to bolster the squad - as their leader is now officially sidelined for the next 2-3 weeks.
As per Ryan Hall of Oilers Daily, TSN insider Darren Dreger reports the general manager Stan Bowman is working the phones to make a trade.
Dreger was a guest on Edmonton Sports Talk who explained that Bowman is trying to find options to help his beleaguered lineup as the team continues its woeful start an many of their top players struggling to get their season on track.
The likelihood of trades happening this early in the season is not unheard of but rare but there are teams out there who are looking potentially to make deals who have players in abundance who could help the Oilers including the Toronto Maple Leafs who have several players ready to come off long term injury reserve and a rarely used defenseman in Timothy Liljegren who has a right-handed shot.
