Hockey fans have expressed their frustration with Auston Matthews, Toronto Maple Leafs star player, after he was caught on camera spitting on the ice during the national anthem in a recent game. Some fans went as far as sending personal threats to Matthews, which is unacceptable and uncalled for.
While spitting during the national anthem is a disrespectful act, sending personal threats to a player is not an appropriate way to handle the situation.
Hockey fans should understand that players are human, and they make mistakes. Instead of resorting to personal attacks, fans should call for Matthews to apologize and hold him accountable for his actions if they think he did wrong.
Matthews is one of the league's most talented players, and he is a key player for the Maple Leafs. As a professional athlete, he should always act with integrity and respect for the game. The NHL has a code of conduct that players must follow, and any violation of this code should be dealt with appropriately, but this is not something that was violated and fans may be overlooking it.
