The Edmonton Oilers had a promising start in their first round series against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night. Leon Draisaitl scored the first goal for the Oilers, putting them in the lead 1-0, followed by Evan Bouchard who extended their lead to 2-0. The Kings scored one goal to stay in the game.

With 8 minutes left in the third period, Draisaitl scored again, making it 3-1 for the Oilers. However, Adrian Kempe of the Kings managed to score his second goal of the game, making it 3-2. Oilers fans became restless and began throwing items onto the ice, to the point where an announcement had to be made by the arena announcer to warn them against further littering.

With just 17 seconds remaining in the game, the Kings' Anze Kopitar scored, tying the game 3-3 after Stuart Skinner lost track of the puck in his crease. In overtime, the officials made a controversial tripping call against the Oilers, giving the Kings a power play. Alex Lafallo took advantage of the opportunity and scored, giving the Kings a 4-3 win.

After the game, Oilers fans expressed their frustration by throwing the free pom poms they received before the game, as well as other garbage, onto the ice. Many took to Twitter to share their disappointment and anger over the game's outcome.
