The departure of General Manager Brad Treliving from the Calgary Flames was announced by the team in a surprising move, leaving many fans curious about the future of the franchise. Treliving had been with the Flames since 2014 and had led the team to three playoff appearances during his tenure. The decision to part ways was reportedly mutual.
The Flames acted quickly by appointing Don Maloney, who has over 30 years of NHL experience, as the Interim General Manager while being promoted to President of Hockey Operations. Maloney had previously served as the general manager of the Arizona Coyotes for nine seasons and has been with the Flames since 2016.
