As the Edmonton Oilers prepare for the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, the team and local authorities are taking a firm stance against unacceptable behavior, following a violent incident during a watch party in the downtown area over the weekend.

Following the team's Game 6 victory against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night, two individuals were stabbed and transported to the hospital. Police intervened and ultimately fired at the suspect, who was then taken to the hospital for medical attention. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is currently investigating the incident.

In light of the events that transpired, Edmonton Police Service Chief Dale McFee held a news conference on Monday, emphasizing that the safety of both staff and fans is of the utmost importance. McFee stated that any acts of aggression or harm towards others will be dealt with swiftly and harshly.

Moreover, reports have surfaced via social media of further incidents that occurred following the Oilers' win, including instances of barricade rushing and finger-biting, as well as injured staff. The EPS, the city, and the Oilers Entertainment Group are working together to assess their allocation of resources for future events.

Ultimately, McFee underscored the need to celebrate the spirit of the sport and the community without resorting to dangerous or violent behavior. As the Oilers continue their quest for the Stanley Cup, let's hope that all fans can safely enjoy the game and come together to support their team.
